Your right to a Good Faith Estimate

Under the federal No Surprises Act, health care providers must give patients who don't have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for their care.
  • —You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any services you schedule.
  • —You can ask for an estimate before scheduling, and you'll receive it in writing within three business days.
  • —If you receive a bill that is substantially higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • —Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate.
